Polio is a highly contagious infection caused by the poliovirus. While I have not had polio, I have worked hard, as a lay person, to understand why it has been so difficult to eradicate and why this is still Rotary’s top humanitarian priority. I have vaccinated children for polio in a remote area. I’ve also gone to a different far-flung area to distribute wheelchairs to polio victims. I have used this knowledge, coupled with my passion, to present programs to over 100 Rotary clubs throughout North America. My District remains a leader in helping clubs support the end of polio. I can help other clubs use innovative ways to raise awareness and generate funds.
