Dear Mr. Svigals, My name is Isabel McDermott; I am a resident of Bainbridge Island, 2022 graduate of Bainbridge High School, and recent 2026 graduate of Wellesley College. I am writing to inquire about Rotary’s Global Grants, specifically for Graduate funding. It is my understanding the my local Bainbridge Island club does not deal with these types of grants, and that they are managed at the district level – it was recommended I reach out to you first before starting any kind of application. I contacted Christine Dysart, the District Global Grants chair for District 5020, but have not yet received a response, so I wanted to reach out to you. In the fall of 2026, I will be pursuing a Masters of Philosophy in International Relations at the University of Oxford. My thesis for this program surrounds peacebuilding processes in the Middle East, and aligns with Rotary’s core goal of peacebuilding and conflict prevention. As a 2022 recipient of an undergraduate scholarship from Bainbridge’s Rotary club, and a federal Pell grant recipient, I am now curious what the process is for applying for graduate funding through Rotary.
