Hi Joe, I currently serve as the Treasurer of the Rotary Club or Reno Sunrise and have a question about fundraising that I hope you can provide some guidance on. Our club is planning a fundraiser for April of next year with all the proceeds going to our club foundation, a 501(C)3 organization. Our foundation meets all the requirements to qualify under the Rotary GL Insurance policy. Obviously, we wish all donations to be tax deductible. Is there a “best practices” as to whether the club puts on the event, signs contracts, has the GL Insurance under the club name and directs all donations to our foundation, or should our foundation sign contracts and have the Rotary GL insurance under their name? Is there any difference in risk management between the two options? All of the work and management of the event will be done by club members with either option. Thanks for any help you can provide.
