Thank you for offering to be contacted as an expert in Interact! I have been asked to be Interact Chair for the next 3 years in District 5190. We have great Rotarians in 59 Clubs in our District, and an Interact program that needs to be reinvigorated post COVID. Today we have 22 Active Interact Clubs, 2 on probation and 28 terminated Clubs. My passions are Youth Protection and getting young people involved in Rotary so they potentially become Rotarians for life. We have a strong HR Executive incoming AG in Larry Harvey who is very supportive. Actions I want to take: 1) create a module (or place) in ClubRunner where our District can better track Interact Clubs, people (Advisors, Principals, key school personnel, etc), and youth driven projects. 2) Reinstate as many Interact Clubs across our District as possible. 3) Get Interact involved in our next District Conference (May, 2026 in Reno, NV) with a “human trafficking prevention” presentation. We have an excellent resource – 3Strands Global Foundation based in Sacramento to help with this. Can you provide guidance or ideas on materials that I can review to make some of these improvements? I connected with Dave Olson via email, and we held a 1-hour Zoom session togther to answer his questions and to make suggestions. I shared with him copies of our Interact District’s plan for starting and reactivating Interact clubs, a copy of my own “Guide to Growing an Interact Club,” our distrct’s “Advisor 101” guide for Interact Club Advisors, and information about our district’s 3 levels of Interact leaadership training and service: (1) club; (2) district; and (3) international. We also discussed as some length our Ineract District 5495’s organization structure and how we operate. I also gave him materials related to our signature “Interact Crutches 4 Africa” international service project. Perhaps most important, I connected him with our Zones 26-27 Rotary Youth Services Interact Community of Practice and our virtual RYS leadership training conferences. I also gave him information about our Worldwide Rotary District Interact Chairs Association and its quarterly informational meetings. We have since have several additional email exchanges.
