Hi, I’d like your feedback please on our membership growth and retention plan as an incoming President for 2025-2026 please. We have 45 members now and have been in membership decline for years. I’m trying to reverse that trend. 2025-2026 Membership Growth Draft New Members and Retention of Existing Members Draft Goal: Increase our membership by a net of 15 members in 2025-2026, by adding 20 new members and limiting attrition to 5 members Adding New Members Draft Action Items: 1. Locations throughout Alameda for Rotary cards – Josephine 2. Do some updates to website (social 4th Friday of the month, Vegetarian option at lunch, zero waste lunch, why join our Rotary Club – Want to have a positive impact on our community and the world while making friends and having fun? – Joyce & Josephine 3. Share Vision and Goals with Club at Summit – Joyce 4. Establish a membership committee. Sign up at the summit. – Joyce 5. Establish a Greeter responsible for making guests feel uber welcome. Include a guest member sign in sheet. Sign up Greeter at Summit – Joyce 6. Tuesday, July 8 meeting – Membership Meeting – Share draft plan for growing club. Brainstorm more ideas to build upon the plan. Each member completes and acts upon Membership Worksheet to invite new members to club. Distribute Cards, Flyers for Rotary Open House and Ask me about Rotary buttons – Josephine/Joyce 7. Email Club with Vision/Goals and ask them to complete Membership Worksheet and invite new members to club, including flyer for Rotary Open House. – Joyce 8. Hold a prospective member event Rotary Open House – Benefits of Membership, Tuesday July 29, 12:30 pm – Board 9. Formalize progressing prospects to paying members (standard email and/or phone call) and share with the club – Josephine 10. Touch on membership at every meeting – prospects, etc. – Joyce and Josephine 11. Add two or three new events that outreach to the community for more visibility – Marie and Stephen 12. Everything we do/did all meetings including Socials, all events go on the main page of the website, our calendar, and Alameda Facebook Pages; Committee meetings go on the calendar only – Everyone feeds to Nirmal (website) and Joyce (Facebook) 13. Major events and accomplishments, including international work, go to Alameda Post – Everyone feeds input to Barbara 14. Get Rotary booths at major events in town: Art & Wine Festival, Blues, Brews and BBQ Festival, Gay Pride Event, others? Joyce 15. Staff booths at Events in town – Membership Committee & Josephine 16. Join the Chamber of Commerce and recruit at meetings – Joyce & Josephine 17. Recruit at Lobster Dinner and Community Service Events – Membership Committee & Ryan 18. Give all presenters and guests information about Rotary (card) at the meeting and invite them to join Rotary. Tell them the next step to take. Follow up with an email. – Josephine 19. Put Rotary meetings on Event Brite and Patch – Barbara 20. Table at Peet’s and the Farmers’ Market Retention of Members Draft Action Items: 1. Sign up sheets at Summit (and follow-up via email for those who didn’t attend) for roles folks can play in the club for engagement – Joyce 2. Meet with new members and go over the signup sheet for engagement with the club – Joyce 3. Introduce new members formally to the club with their sponsor and welcome them to with Rotary pins and Sponsor pins – Ask new members how they heard about the club, why they joined/hope to get out of their Rotary experience and a little about themselves. – Joyce 4. Give each new member a Rotary T-Shirt 5. Formalize Red to Blue Badge program – Josephine with input from Board 6. New member social at Josephine’s house to check in on their Rotary Experience – Joyce and Josephine 7. Call every member to talk about their Rotary experience and how it can be improved – Split up the list with the Board members? 8. Sunshine Committee sends birthday cards to members (or hands them out at meeting), sends get well cards, and sympathy cards on behalf of the club – Mari 9. Acknowledge Rotary anniversaries at club meetings and via email – Joyce 10. Send our accomplishments of the club to the membership on an ongoing basis to increase pride in the club – Joyce 11. Enhance our Fellowship experience – Deb 12. After community service events, have a social gathering for volunteers. 13. Rotarian of the month with a pin and announce at meeting and via email – Joyce 14. Scholarship big donors event with President – Joyce 15. Lots of thank you emails for those contributing to the club via volunteer work or via funds – Joyce with input from Bill Dal Porto 16. Add 2 or 3 new community engagement events – Marie and Stephen 17. Coffee with the president for new members. Go over ways to get engaged with club. – Joyce 18. Interview each person who leaves our club to ask why – Joyce 19. Add nature walks once a quarter??? – Joyce
