Hi Mr. Rogers, I found your contact information on the Rotary Expert Hub website. I would appreciate it if you could give me advice on how to go about doing a donor match program. I did one last year, but it took four months to process and seemed very disorganized. Here’s what I did: I offered to match up to $100 for any donations made in October, which I think is polio month, and got 38 people to say they made donations, after which I sent in $3750 to match the total received. It was a mess, though, as most folks don’t know their Rotary number to get Paul Harris credit, some folks gave me cash that I didn’t want (I ended up putting the cash in my bank account and sending in the money by credit card), some wrote a check (most of them got it right to list TRF, but I had to return two checks), and a few made independent donations on the Rotary website. I was able to look up the various Rotary numbers, and somebody (I think Terry Toone) assigned a number for the donation from a non-member in case he ever joins, and I can do that again. I’ll probably accept cash again as the alternative would be no donation, even though I don’t want to deal with cash. This year I hope to send in my match via a QCD from my IRA, which I don’t expect to be a problem, but I am wondering if you have any suggestions as to how I could streamline any of this. Four months seems like a long time and I had to fill out a lot of individual donation forms for people. And one more thing, if you don’t mind. Can I ask in September for some up-to-date numbers on our progress in case I give a talk to the Club? Thanks. Paul Tice
